Landlord obligations to provide warm and dry dwellings in potential conflict with UTA
Healthy Homes Standards.
The Healthy Homes Guarantee Act 2017 [2017/46] provided the opportunity for MBIE to develop a set of standards under which warmer and drier rental properties could be assured for the benefit of tenants.
MBIE issued a draft set of standards in September 2018 on which they sought public consultation. The consultation period ended on 22nd October 2018.
These standards and the obligations created for landlords under the Act have the potential of serious conflict with landlord rights and obligations as property owners within Unit Title Bodies Corporate.
BCCG was concerned to express these concerns to MBIE and made a submission followed up with a face to face explanation of the submission on 31st October.
