Combustible Cladding Class Action Information Session, 8 July 2020

The law firm, Russell McVeagh, and global litigation funder, Omni Bridgeway, are intending on shortly commencing a class action seeking compensation for owners of buildings in New Zealand, including bodies corporate, which are clad in certain types of aluminium composite panel cladding with a combustible core comprised wholly or substantially of polyethylene.
The class action, which will be brought against the manufacturers of Alucobond PE and Alucobond Plus, would seek compensation for building owners who have suffered or will suffer financial loss, including from removing and replacing these products, or taking other remedial measures plus increased building insurance premiums.
Russell McVeagh and Omni Bridgeway have offered to host an online information session for members of the Body Corporate Chairs' Group. The information session will be an opportunity to find out more about the class action, and to ask any questions you may have. Topics that will be covered include:
- That owners do not have
to have received a notice from the Council, or have incurred the cost of
replacing cladding, to be able to participate.
- Omni Bridgeway's funding
of the class action on a "no win no pay" basis.
- What bodies corporate have to do to participate in the class action.
The video conference information session will be held on Wednesday 8 July 2020 between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
