Section 88 UTA - Remote BC Meetings extension

21 March 2021

The Epidemic Preparedness (Covid-19) Notice 2020 has been extended for a further 3 months effective today and will expire on 21 June 2021.

This means the ability to run remote meetings under section 88(3) of the Unit Titles Act 2010 continues through to 12 September 2021.

The latest gazette notice confirming the Epidemic Preparedness Notice renewal can be found here.

This further extension is to be expected given the global pandemic is still at large. It is also a timely reminder to consider how well remote meetings are working, to review the remote meeting provisions in the Unit Titles (Strengthening Body Corporate Governance and Other Matters) Amendment Bill and to consider any improvements that might be appropriate. The remote meeting procedure in the proposed Bill differs from current section 88(3) UTA.

Be aware that the BCCG will be making submissions on the Amendment Bill on your behalf, we would welcome your input on this, or any other matter addressed in the Bill. Please forward any comments you may have to the Secretary at nat.admin@bccg.org.nz.
