About BCCG

Our purpose

The Body Corporate Chairs’ Group Inc. (BCCG) is committed to making your life in the body corporate world a lot easier. Our core purposes are to:

  • deliver education, training and resources to develop your ability to govern
  • provide an accessible knowledge and networking channel for all members
  • obtain information from other bodies for the benefit of all members
  • use our combined purchasing power for group benefit
  • promptly address relevant issues with central and local government

Our vision

Our vision is to be the informative and supportive platform for all New Zealand based body corporate chairs, and others who are similarly interested in body corporate issues.

We want to develop body corporate management in New Zealand so that it is recognised as a collaborative, innovative and well informed industry.

We understand that knowledge is power, and by continuing to deliver accessible resources across a range of media we can ensure that our members will prosper.

Our history

BCCG was established in Wellington in 2012 by Neil Cooper, BC chair of the Dominion Building and Wendy Booth, BC chair of Tasman Gardens. The group was created as a result of the difficulties many BC chairs experienced with the introduction of the Unit Titles Act 2010 and the associated Unit Titles Regulations 2011.

Our first meeting was held in Wellington in April 2012, followed by the first Annual General Meeting in June 2012.

Due to the high demand of interest in membership from outside companies, BCCG decided to expand membership parameters and introduced the associate organisation membership. Our associate members come from a range of industries including law, engineering, architecture, local councils and compliance consultancy, so now our members have access to a greater knowledge sharing and networking pool then ever before.

Many BC management companies also sought membership of BCCG and encouraged their chairs to join on the basis that a knowledgeable chairperson makes the company's role easier.

In early 2015 we held our grand opening for the Auckland branch and by 2016 we had over 350 body corporate members and over 70 associate or casual members. We became an Incorporated Society in 2016.

We continue to punctually distribute valuable resources to our members based all over New Zealand and hold regular events in Wellington and Auckland.

Our reach currently spans across body corporate environments based in all corners of the country, including members in Paihia, Auckland, Hamilton, Mt Maunganui, Tauranga, Kawerau, Napier, Taupo, Wellington, Christchurch, Tekapo and Queenstown.
